Anonymous Feb 10, 2009 It has to be the wires in the receiver! OF course we could all complain to Microsoft at the same time and maybe get free ones? I tried the other solutions before doing the obvious assuming the red light meant the battery was good, all fixed now though. I'm glad it did.

I tried a few-software level suggestions with no success, but then realized that even the red light under the mouse wasn't working. I have replaced the battery twice and nothing. Now check your mouse, it also has a connect button, press it and you can use your mouse now.
