I have tried using this combo II drive in another T42, and as soon as I inserted the drive, the system automatically recognized the drive and installed the drivers. Cheers Bob! The OS is XP Media SP2. Does this have anything to do with the media? The screw that holds it in place goes through the bottom of the notebook case and into a tab that sticks out the back of the DVD-RAM.
